Internet is among one of the best things that happened on earth, and we surely owe this to Leonard Kleinrock. But does its benefits outweigh its drawbacks?
Do you want to check out your favorite restaurant or book your flight tickets or get a degree online or maybe want to talk to somebody at other part of the planet? Internet has your answer. From the invention of internet, a new revolutionary period has started. To conduct a business, you no longer have to wait for days or even weeks to make a deal with your partner who is not living in the same city. Rather you type an email and get it done within seconds. Globalization has taken over and has made our life way easier than before.
Without internet you would go on the roads to find yourself a cab. With internet your cab is a click away from you. You order it, sit back and enjoy the show while it comes to your door. Uber, Careem, Foodpanda they all have made our life much easier. So imagine a life without these applications and without internet. It must scare you. These are all the good things about internet it will surely be wrong to judge this by seeing it from one perspective.
So, the question remains whether internet is a blessing or a curse? According to my opinion, the answer lies in the will of an individual. It is totally up to the person. Whether he uses internet to study or wastes his time by just surfing through the internet. It provides you wealth of information, you can research on any topic you want and increase your knowledge, because knowledge takes you places. Other than that, it allows you to talk to your family and friends and connect to any person around the globe. You no longer have to go to the school, you can take your classes online. You can even subscribe to your favorite magazine or watch a fashion show in Paris and the list goes on. I need to stop with all the praise.
On the contrary, internet is big breach of privacy and data, social websites are taking our personal information without us knowing (how bad that is). They sell that information to advertising companies and influence our behavior (even worse). Other than that, people overuse it and lose track of time, it has become an addiction. People have made a little life on internet and fail to see the real-world realities. On one hand, you can connect with anyone around the world, on the other hand, people get so immersed in using internet that they forget to feel the presence of their friends and families. Now you be the judge here and weigh the pros and cons and label it blessing or curse. What I think is that it is you who make the internet a blessing or a curse. You have the power so Use it WISELY!!!
